An LVP stair tread is the second option. It is a single, pre-formed piece that covers the full tread from the riser face at the back to the nosing profile at the front. It goes directly on top of the existing tread — no demolition, no subfloor work.

Open-Side Stair Tread Options

The solution is a return end cap: a curved or mitered piece of matching LVP that wraps around the exposed end of the tread so every visible surface is finished.
