Stair Nosing Samples

Order a profile or color sample before committing to a full order. Samples help you verify fit, profile shape, and color match at your actual stairs. Samples only ever travel to you; you never need to send in flooring, planks, or samples of your own.

Samples are quoted separately and are not part of the $49–$189 range shown on stair nose listings — that range covers finished stair noses and tread kits, not sample pieces.

Check the profile before a full order. After reviewing your flooring details, StairMatch — or our manufacturing partner, if your project is passed to them — confirms sample availability, pricing, and whether a color-specific sample is possible. Samples are sent to you; you never need to send anything in.

Sample FAQs

Depending on the project, our manufacturing partner may offer two types: (1) Profile samples — short pieces in a standard neutral color to show the physical profile shape (round, square, flush) so you can test fit against your stair edge. (2) Color samples — samples made from or matched to a specific flooring color, available for purchase when material allows.

Profile samples show the nose shape and approximate scale. Color samples are representative but may vary slightly due to dye lots. The exact flooring SKU and store you give us confirm the match for a full order. You never need to send in a plank or sample of your floor.

Sample availability, pricing, and shipping timing are confirmed after StairMatch reviews the requested profile and flooring details, and are confirmed with you by StairMatch or by our manufacturing partner if your project is passed to them.

Sample pricing and any credit toward a full order are set by our manufacturing partner, since they quote and take payment for the order. Ask them directly once they contact you.
