Short answer: No. You never need to send in flooring, planks, or samples. Our manufacturing partner buys the matching flooring themselves, so StairMatch needs your brand, color name, SKU, and the store you bought it from, plus photos of your stairs.
Why You Do Not Need to Send in Flooring
Please do not mail flooring, planks, or samples to StairMatch. Our manufacturing partner buys the matching flooring themselves at Home Depot, Lowe's, or Floor & Decor, so what confirms the match is the exact SKU, the flooring type, and the store it was bought from.
What to Send Instead
The best way to identify your flooring for a custom stair nose request is the brand name, color name, and SKU from the box label or receipt. If you cannot find those:
- Check your receipt, order history, or the original box if any is left in a closet or garage
- Photograph the back of a plank, where a product code is sometimes printed
- Send clear photos of the floor in daylight, next to a sheet of white paper for color reference
- Tell us which store you bought it from and roughly when
What Happens After You Submit
- Submit your request. Provide the brand, color name, and SKU, plus photos of your stairs and any label you have.
- StairMatch reviews it. Our team checks whether a match is possible and asks you for anything that is missing.
- With your permission, it goes to our manufacturing partner. They make the stair nose to match your flooring and contact you directly with a quote.
- If it is not a fit. A very small project or a floor the partner cannot match gets a reply from StairMatch with options.
What We Cannot Match
Very unusual or artistic LVP patterns (marble, herringbone, or heavy distressed visuals) may not be reproducible in a stair nose format. We will tell you upfront if your color falls into this category.
